Would you drop $2000 on this device after seeing these stories emerge?

Oh yes, until they become too mean like Apple someday. They're really quite brave (or fools) with all their implementations of innovations here but at least they seemed determined about it. I basically respect them for this unfolding phone they showed us all for real, where we somewhat got some real ideas about what the future phones might look like. I really hope Galaxy Fold retails soon even though I am not gonna buy their first two iterations of folding phones for sure!

To me it looks more like some tiny internal metal part breaking loose off the mainframe accidentally: just beneath that ever so soft screen! Also it could very possibly be a lump on the battery (just saying). I own an S9 plus here in India because I have loved Samsung since the day they brought their folding tech into play with the 'note edge' and they have just improved over time at it. I think they really should provide their snapdragon version of flagships globally. I skipped the S10 SOLELY for this reason, and might as well buy the OP7 pro. We're paying full bucks afterall so indeed we want full value as well. I feel somewhat like 'underprivileged for no reason bcz I am somewhat forced to use exynos over snapdragon and Lew I absolutely love the way you speak out to us, great job man, keep it up!

Keepmguessin - 23 giorni fa
My question is, why is there a notch on the big screen... there's no need for a notch. And if the ne galaxy note 10 is going to have in screen fingerprint scanner, then this should also. Flagship means It should have latest tech, and it's a luxury. Complaining about the cost in a luxury item is like saying millionaires should have to share their wealth just because others are poor.

First off, the hot coffee thing was hot enough to cause that old woman 3rd degree burns and she had to have skin grafting because the coffee was served at 190 degrees, way hotter than anyone could physically drink without causing serious harm. McDonald's bashed her to cover themselves, seriously don't talk that down

There’s nothing more satisfying then to pull the plastic covering off the screen of a new phone. That’s the first thing 99% of consumers do when they get a new phone. It’s not consumer error if the company doesn’t tell us not to take that film off. Unless they state it from the start every regular person will pull that film off and BAM dead screen. But that’s just my two cents

this could have been a true test. Send out 40 phones and see what happens. You guys are very mindful of tech BUT y'all also are a controlled test group of average people with natural curiosity. some may be clumsy, some may have super active lifestyles, some more laid back. I think this was a great test.

1st gen or not, the fact that it breaks that easily just for peeling off the screen protector, after paying 2k for it??? Sorry I just cant defend Samsung for that one. And I'm a fan. I'm on my 3rd samsung phone. My opinion is, this device was rushed and I don't blame people like mkbhd for peeling off the screen protector.

What about people that work in dirty environments? Does that mean Samsung will lose that part of the market wirh folding phones?
superkallefrageliste - 29 giorni fa
Buying a device that is kinda cool, but generally extremely fragile, like EXTREMLY. I mean no matter the tech, if I stuff that phone into my pockets and ANYTHING could potentially break it, not scratch ... no straight up kill it. The other thing, I personally don't stand the feeling of that protective layer that has to cover the screen to keep it "save?", and that is a glued on layer... with time 100% wear off If you use the phone. AND THE FACT THAT YOU CAN EASYLIE STRIPP OFF A PIECE OF CHEAP LAYER AND IT ALL BREAKS .... common seriously? The price tag, the feel of the screen, the extreme fragile ness of the screen/hinge thing, not closing flat (looks so stupid once its folded because our the gap on the hinge side) .... far from being a finished product. Not worth the money if you want a device that is designed to be used IRL and not in a lab.......

That is very interesting that a small peace of clay/debris can get into the phone. And to add to your discussion about getting stuff in your pocket. I work in construction and I get little pebbles in my pockets all the time! Knowing that something small can kill a phone makes me not want to get this phone!
Paul Gabriel A. Caronan
But, why would you still believe The Verge? Have they ever been credible recently?

How much is Samsung paying you to deliver this easy going blaming it on the clay stuff. It costs 2000 dollars, if clay can enter the cogs. Dust certainly will, and it shall rape this device within weeks. Be more critical and give advise as you did in the past. This is not yet ready for consumer market. Only thing that’s a step forward is the folding screen. All the rest is several steps backwards. Good thing Samsung is delaying the launch to address these issues. I really wanted to buy this, but I’m really sceptical now.

So pretty much users or reviewers are blaming Samsung for faults in this product when in reality most, if not all, of these problems were from user negligence?
Andrew Sullivan
Andrew Sullivan - Mese fa
There is no statement from Samsung on the broken Fold that may have had clay work its way inside, and until they do, I don't believe it's clay in there. I think it's something like a small piece of rock or lint from a pocket.
One way or another tho, the fact that it's literally so easy for something to get inside of the hinge mechanism, rendering the device essentially useless, is EXTREMELY alarming to me.

City folks with ADD can have any demand for a product directly implanted into their brain. Human see, Human do at its finest. Just look at all the half assed shit like Netflix Originals that the Lemmings slurp up like the last ounces of food available before death by starvation. Good thing convenience and entertainment has canceled out any viable life skills lemmings will need to survive if the tit stops producing laziness...
Christopher Smith
Christopher Smith - Mese fa
The problem is without being able to put a case over the hinge due to the design, that issue with dirt, pebbles, lint, anything, getting stuck to the back and working its way to BEHIND THE DARN SCREEN absolutely will be a prevalent issue over time. It happened within a couple days with the Verge's unit. Yeah we aren't using clay but there is just no way to protect this thing and you cannot expect every person who buys this phone to baby it to the point that you have to thoroughly wipe off the hinge before opening it each time you take it out of your pocket. It just seems nuts that Samsung couldn't come up with a better hinge design than allowing you to get direct access to behind the screen through the hinge. That is insane to me.

Sorry but if I'm going to pay $2000 for a phone
I'd want something better than
It'll break if you remove the thing you always usually remove
Or you have to be careful not to get anything on it or the phone will get bumps in it.

The point is that these occurrences are so soon after release and probably there are more issues with the phone.
